Hello,
I’m Dr. John Boisi

I am currently working as a post doctoral fellow at the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy specializing in OCD, anxiety, depression, and related issues. My therapeutic approach prioritizes collaborating with my clients in order to identify the relationship between their thoughts, behaviors, and actions within the context of their individuals goals and values. Together we will work to create actionable strategies to achieve growth and positive behavioral change.

Guided by trust, grounded in goals

Rapport

My goal is to establish an environment of safety and trust to help facilitate a setting geared towards growth. My personalized approach recognizes that we are both two humans working together towards a shared goal and incorporates humor, direct communication and empathy.

Collaborate

Our therapy will be collaborative in nature and emphasize workability. We will create a roadmap towards your desired goals and actively work on the skills required to follow the map.

Acceptance

I aim to meet you where you are and work toward an understanding of obstacles in your life. In order to identify stuck points in your life we must accept your situation and work non judgmentally to create a treatment strategy.

Goal-oriented

Our process will start by creating concrete goals and formulating a specific, tailored plan that make them achievable. These goals will be actionable and life oriented, not just “feeling better”.

What to expect

Individual sessions are typically for 45 minutes once a week, with the option to be seen more frequently as needed.

Both. I am available in person in Manhattan. I see patients at 137 E 36th St, Suite 4, New York, NY 10016. In-person sessions are conveniently located near the 33rd St. subway stops for the 4 and 6 trains. I am also available for virtual sessions, which are conducted on a confidential, HIPAA compliant video-based platform.

My formal training background is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Much of my work incorporates these therapeutic approaches, which inform how I view a patient's concerns. Additionally, I have specialized training in several other evidence-based treatments, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Habit Reversal Training (HRT). As many of my patients struggle with OCD and anxiety, ERP is typically incorporated into the treatment plan.

An individual 45 minute session costs $225. Clients may inquire about eligibility for a sliding scale.

I am an out-of-network provider and accept private pay for session costs. If your insurance includes out-of-network coverage, you may qualify for full or partial reimbursement from your insurance company for session costs. I can most likely provide a “superbill” document for each session which can be submitted for potential reimbursement.

At this time there is no waitlist. Please use this link to schedule a free 15 minute consultation or an initial appointment.

The “No Surprises” Act requires health care providers to provide current and new patients who are uninsured or self-pay with a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) of cost for treatment. This regulation attempts to provide patients with transparency regarding their health care costs. While therapy presents a unique circumstance for estimating costs due to variable factors (patient may terminate therapy at any time, cancellations may occur, etc.), I can provide anyone interested with a GFE.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating
